Bhatkal: A 22-year-old woman from Bhatkal was killed in a tragic road accident near KR Puram in Bengaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Deepali Guru Gonda, who had been working at a private company in Bengaluru for the past seven months. She was returning with her colleagues in a Tempo Traveller after attending a wedding function when the accident occurred.

According to sources, the driver had stopped the vehicle by the roadside near KR Puram to allow passengers to relieve themselves. While most of the passengers got down from the Tempo Traveller, Deepali and two others remained inside. Moments later, a speeding lorry rammed into the parked vehicle from behind, causing it to overturn.

Deepali sustained severe head and internal injuries and died before she could be shifted to a hospital. Another young woman also sustained injuries in the accident.

Sources said the ambulance took nearly two hours to reach the accident site due to a massive traffic jam, hampering the rescue operation.

A case has been registered at the KR Puram Traffic Police Station, and an investigation is underway.

Deepali was the eldest daughter in her family. Her untimely death has left her family devastated.

Her mortal remains were brought to her native village of Belke, where the last rites were performed.

The news of her death has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with relatives and residents mourning her loss.
