Karwar: The Uttara Kannada district administration has set a target of administering Pulse Polio drops to 89,388 children below the age of five during the district-wide immunisation campaign scheduled for June 28.
Chairing a district-level review meeting on Monday, Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmi Priya directed health officials to ensure that no eligible child is left out of the campaign. A total of 873 vaccination booths will be set up across rural and urban areas, with additional coverage planned at transit points and other special locations.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for extensive public awareness efforts, particularly among migrant families, construction workers and residents of slum areas, to ensure complete immunisation coverage. She also instructed officials to conduct a public awareness rally on June 27 ahead of the campaign.
To maintain the vaccine cold chain, HESCOM officials were asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply to primary and community health centres. The district administration also called upon various government departments and organisations to extend full cooperation for the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio programme.
