Bhatkal: Murdeshwar police raided a cockfighting-based gambling den operating at Bailur village in the taluk and arrested two persons, while another suspect managed to escape.

The arrested have been identified as Suresh Ganapati Naik (27) and Ashwin Beliya Naik (23), both residents of Kambarkeri in Bailur. The absconding accused has been identified as Gajanan Naik (40).

According to police, two roosters used for cockfighting and Rs 400 in cash allegedly involved in the gambling activity were seized during the raid.

A case has been registered at Murdeshwar Police Station. Sub-Inspector Hanumanth Biradar is investigating the matter.
