Karwar: Stressing the importance of public participation in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dilish Shashi on Saturday urged voters to fill in and return the enumeration forms distributed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during their door-to-door visits.

Speaking after inaugurating the SIR Cup Cricket Tournament, organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat and the SVEEP Committee to create public awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Dr. Shashi said the successful completion of the revision process depended on the cooperation of eligible voters in submitting the completed enumeration forms.

He said the responsibility of spreading accurate information about the electoral roll revision rests with the Revenue Department, the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department, the Police Department and the media.

He appealed to the public to actively support the revision exercise and ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.

Among those present were Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N., Zilla Panchayat Chief Planning Officer Somasekhar Mesta, Chief Accounts Officer Anandsa Habib and other officials.

Teams representing the Zilla Panchayat, Revenue Department, Police Department and journalists participated in the cricket tournament.

Dr. Shashi opened the batting for the Zilla Panchayat team, while the Police Department defeated the Revenue Department in the final to emerge as the tournament champions.
