A seven-year-old girl who fell into a swollen river, while crossing a wooden footbridge, was feared drowned at Bijamakki in Kalthodu in Byndoor taluk.
The deceased is Sannidi, daughter of Pradeep and Sumithra of Bolamballi Makkimane and a student of the second standard at Government Primary School in Chapparike.
Due to incessant rainfall, the river was flowing in spate.

Absconding politician Shrikant Tyagi was arrested Tuesday from Meerut, officials said, days after he was seen in a social media video abusing and assaulting a woman for objecting to his alleged illegal constructions at a housing society here.
