Bhatkal: A man, his wife and their minor child were injured after a speeding car rammed into their scooter on Goodluck Road in Bhatkal on Thursday evening.
The accident occurred around 5 pm near Goodluck Cross. CCTV footage of the incident, captured by a nearby camera, has gone viral on social media. The video shows a scooter passing through Goodluck Road when a speeding car coming from the Hurlisal side suddenly crashes into it at the junction, throwing the couple and their child onto the road.
According to an eyewitness, the injured have been identified as Zuhair Chamandi, a resident of Goodluck Road, who was travelling on the scooter along with his wife and young child. The car, coming at high speed from the Hurlisal, hit the scooter while crossing Goodluck Road.
Fortunately, the scooter got stuck in the car’s wheel immediately after the collision, which prevented a more serious mishap. However, Zuhair’s wife sustained a severe injury to her leg, while Zuhair suffered injuries to his back.
All three injured were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where they were given medical treatment. After initial treatment, doctors allowed them to return home later in the night.
Sources said that no police complaint was filed as the matter was resolved amicably through mutual discussion after the accident.
