Special Traffic Police Deployed in Bhatkal to Streamline Vehicular Movement

Bhatkal: In an effort to bring order to the growing traffic congestion and curb violations of traffic rules, special traffic police personnel have been deployed at various key points across Bhatkal.

Starting Monday, officers in full traffic police uniform began performing their duties at Shamsuddin Circle, located in the heart of the town. The operation is being carried out under the guidance of DySP Mahesh and CPI Diwakar, with supervision by SI Naveen and SI Timmappa.

Traffic officer Satyanand from Karwar provided necessary instructions and training to the deployed personnel regarding the discharge of their responsibilities.

It is noteworthy that vehicular movement in Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada district has increased significantly in recent years, with hundreds of new vehicles hitting the roads every year. Managing the traffic system has therefore become a major challenge.

Local residents have long been demanding the establishment of a dedicated Traffic Police Station in Bhatkal to tackle this growing issue. However, despite several assurances — including one from the State Home Minister — the demand remains unfulfilled.

Against this backdrop, local police officials have taken the initiative to appoint 10 special traffic constables on duty to manage traffic in the town, and the implementation of this decision has now begun.
