Karwar: The Uttara Kannada District Police have registered 136 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act so far in 2025, involving 175 accused persons who have been booked under the relevant provisions of law, informed District Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepan M. N.

The SP further stated that continuous awareness programmes are being conducted to educate the public, school and college students, school management committees, teachers, and School Development Committees about the harmful effects of drug use. Awareness is also being spread through social media platforms to reach a wider audience.

He added that in the coming days, strict action will be taken without leniency against individuals found involved in narcotics-related cases, based on the information collected by the police.
