Over 200 students participate in Traffic and Road Safety Painting Competition held in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: A Traffic and Road Safety Painting Competition was held on Sunday at the Tree Park on Sagar Road, jointly organized by the Bhatkal Town Police Station and S-Arts. More than 200 students from various educational institutions participated, while a large number of residents visited the venue to witness the creative artworks displayed by the students.

The event was inaugurated by Inayathullah Shabandri, President of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Bhatkal. In his address, he highlighted the police department’s ongoing efforts to promote traffic discipline and helmet awareness across the district through various public-oriented initiatives. He emphasized that public cooperation is essential for the success of such programs.

Shabandri particularly urged women to begin road-safety enforcement from home by ensuring that children do not ride two-wheelers without helmets and by following the same practice themselves. “Protecting one’s head is a basic necessity, not a choice,” he stressed. He also expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of students and parents from both Hindu and Muslim communities.

He further announced that Tanzeem will soon conduct a Driving Licence Camp in coordination with the RTO, where services will be provided at government-prescribed charges.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhatkal Town Police Inspector Divakar said the department continues to conduct various programs to create awareness on traffic rules and road safety. He added that an extensive awareness drive on cybercrime will also be launched in the coming weeks.

During the valedictory function held at 6 PM, Adv. Imran Lanka, an active member of Tanzeem, urged the public to strictly follow traffic rules, especially wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. He noted that winning prizes is secondary, while participation and awareness are of greater importance.

Police Sub-Inspector Timmappa, S-Arts representatives Saalim and Sulaim, artist Darshan Mahabaleshwar Naik, and several other dignitaries were present at the event.
