Bhatkal: In view of the large influx of devotees expected for Maha Shivaratri–2026 at the famous tourist destination of Murdeshwar, the Murdeshwar Police have introduced a digital initiative to assist pilgrims visiting the coastal temple town.
As part of the arrangements, a specially designed QR code containing essential information has been prepared and displayed on banners at prominent locations across Murdeshwar. Devotees can scan the QR code to access key details aimed at ensuring convenience and safety during the festival.
The information embedded in the QR code includes designated parking areas, locations of police help centres, nearby hospitals, safety guidelines to be followed at the beach, and important contact numbers. In addition, details regarding the railway station and bus stand have also been included to help pilgrims plan their travel smoothly.
Murdeshwar, a popular tourist destination and home to the famous Murdeshwar Temple, witnesses a massive turnout of devotees during Maha Shivaratri every year. Given the heavy rush and the town’s coastal setting, authorities have taken proactive measures to streamline crowd management and enhance public safety.
Police officials stated that the QR code system will enable quick access to verified information, reduce confusion among visitors, and facilitate better coordination during emergencies.
