Bengaluru: In the aftermath of the Maddur violence, the Karnataka government has transferred Mandya Additional SP-1 Thimmayya, issuing an official order on Friday.

Reacting to the development, Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the police department takes internal security lapses very seriously, and action was initiated against Thimmayya in this regard. “A security lapse was observed. When such lapses occur, the department is bound to act. Whether it is an Inspector or a PSI, disciplinary measures will be taken whenever there is a failure,” he told reporters.

Responding to questions on the FIRs registered against BJP leaders C.T. Ravi and Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Parameshwara alleged that the leaders delivered provocative speeches in Mandya. “It is not right to provoke people repeatedly. The BJP leaders used words that should not have been used in such a charged atmosphere. By doing so, what achievement have they made? We have been saying from the beginning that politics should not be played over such incidents. Whoever violates the law will face action,” he warned.
