Mangaluru: A case has been registered against Malayalam film actor Jayakrishnan and two others — Santosh Abraham and Vimal — for allegedly calling a Muslim cab driver a “terrorist” in Mangaluru. According to media reports quoting police sources, Jayakrishnan and Santosh Abraham have been taken into custody for questioning by the Urwa police.
The incident reportedly took place on the night of October 9, when the actor had booked a cab through Uber and Rapido apps. Complainant Ahmad Shafiq, the cab driver, stated that he contacted the passenger through the app to confirm the pick-up location. During the conversation, the accused allegedly mocked his religion and called him a “Muslim terrorist.”
Ahmad further alleged that besides calling him a “Muslim terrorist” in Hindi, the accused also used abusive language in Malayalam targeting his mother.
Based on his complaint, the Urwa police have registered a case under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police sources confirmed that an investigation is underway into the alleged communal abuse and verbal harassment by the actor and his associates.
