Udupi: A truck hit a motor bike opposite Unnathi Residency building near Inox Theatre, Manipal killing the pillion rider and injuring the rider. The accident occurred on Monday July 11 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhakar Poojary. The injured bike rider was Diwakar Poojary from Badagabettu village. Both of them were moving towards Manipal from Ambalpady when a truck moved ahead  brushing the handle bar of the bike in the process.

Diwakar Poojary lost his balance as a result, and fell into the storm drain while Sudhakar Poojary fell on the road and was reportedly crushed by the rear wheels of the truck. He was critically injured and died enroute to Manipal hospital.

A case is registered in Manipal police station.
