Last rites held in Saudi Arabia for Mangalore family who lost lives in Umrah accident near Riyadh

Mangalore: The last rites for three family members from Haleangadi, near Mangalore, were performed at the Ummul Hammam King Khalid Grand Mosque burial ground, located between Riyadh and Taif in Saudi Arabia, on Friday. They died in an accident at Zulfa, on the Riyadh-Taif highway, on Wednesday while on an Umrah pilgrimage from Qatar.riyadh-accident-1

As reported by the Mangalore-based Kannada daily, Vartha Bharathi, those present at the burial included Hiba's father, Mohammed Shamim, her uncle Latif, and Mohammed Rameez's parents and relatives.

The road accident claimed the lives of Hiba (29) from Haleangadi, Thokur, her husband Mohammed Rameez (34), originally from Mumbai, and their 3-month-old daughter, Raha. Hiba's elder son, 3-year-old Haroosh, sustained serious head injuries, and the condition of her uncle Latif's daughter, Fatima (19), is also critical. Both injured individuals have been admitted to Riyadh Hi-Tech Hospital. 

It was noted that the family had recently moved to a grand uncle's house in Qatar from Haleangadi.
