Bhatkal: Social worker Shakir Hussain, popularly known as Diagnomed Shakir, has officially assumed charge as the new President of the Rotary Club of Bhatkal. Social worker and Jali Pattan Panchayat Councillor Misbah-ul-Haq has taken over as the new Secretary during a formal installation ceremony held recently at Ameena Palace in Bhatkal.
The ceremonial handover was conducted by Rotarian Nasir Borsadwala, who in his address emphasized the importance of prioritizing human relationships over commercial interests in today's increasingly commercialized world. “Preserving relationships is an art, and the Rotary Club focuses more on fostering human connections than just social service,” he said.
Rotary Assistant Governor Mahesh Kalyanpur, speaking on the occasion, noted that the Rotary Club is not merely an organization for meetings and events. “It is a platform built on service, commitment, and unity. With fresh ideas and new perspectives, the club will continue to reach greater heights,” he added.
As part of the program, meritorious SSLC students with top scores, along with nurses, hospital staff, and vehicle training instructors who have served diligently in various hospitals, were felicitated and honored for their contributions.
The event was compered by senior Rotarian Dr. Gaurish Padukone. Prominent attendees included Dr. Savita Kamath, Medical Officer at Bhatkal Government Hospital; outgoing Rotary Club President Ishtiyaq Hassan; former Secretary Dr. Zaheer Kola; and Rotarians Rajesh Nayak, Srinivas Padiyar, S.M.
