Dandeli: Heavy monsoon rains have left the Anmod Road in a deplorable condition, with massive potholes turning it into a hotspot for accidents. Locals say that despite repeated complaints, authorities have failed to take effective measures, fueling anger among commuters and residents.
In the latest incident, a man identified as Dilawar and his wife were injured and rushed to the Ramnagar Government Hospital after their two-wheeler hit a pothole on the Anmod stretch. Dilawar, who was traveling from Goa towards Ramnagar, sustained a fractured leg, while his wife suffered facial injuries.

Residents and motorists have voiced frustration, stating that the Ramnagar–Goa road has become highly unsafe, witnessing accidents almost every day. They allege that contractors merely carry out superficial patchwork instead of permanent repairs, causing potholes to reappear within days. This, they point out, not only damages vehicles but also endangers the lives of drivers and passengers.
With the Ganesh Chaturthi festival approaching, when thousands of vehicles from Goa and Maharashtra are expected to travel via the Anmod Road, locals fear the situation may worsen. They have urged the concerned authorities to immediately undertake proper road repairs before more lives are put at risk.
