Bhatkal Tanzeem elections to be held on April 12; December 6 set as deadline for new membership

Bhatkal: The general elections of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal for the three-year term will be held on April 12, 2026. According to General Secretary Maulavi Abdul Raqeeb M.J. Nadvi, only those members will be eligible to vote whose membership is valid and who have cleared all outstanding dues. As per the Tanzeem’s by-laws, members with pending dues must clear them on or before January 12, 2026, which is three months prior to the election date.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nadvi explained that new members will be allowed to vote only if they have submitted their membership applications before midnight of December 6, and their membership is approved in the Executive Committee meeting scheduled on December 12. He emphasized that, according to Clause 2 of the constitution, membership becomes valid only after approval by the Executive Committee. Any application submitted after December 6—even if approved later—will not grant the applicant the right to vote in the upcoming elections.

He further clarified that as per the Tanzeem’s by-laws, newly admitted members must complete one full year of membership to be eligible to contest the election as candidates. However, they will still be allowed to vote once their membership is approved.

Mr. Nadvi also informed that in the Executive Committee meeting held on November 25, it was decided that this year’s election will include the ward-wise selection of 45 members, as against the earlier structure of 35 members.
The election process will take place in the following stages:

  • First, 10 members will be selected from the dissolved administration,

  • After that, 45 members will be elected through the ward-wise public election in Bhatkal,

  • The newly elected administration will then nominate 10 additional members,

  • Finally, the newly elected President will have the authority to induct 3 more members.

He added that individuals who have already served two consecutive terms as part of the dissolved administration will not be eligible for selection on the dissolved list for the third time. They will instead be required to contest the general election if they wish to continue.

Concluding his address, Mr. Nadvi urged the people of Bhatkal to bring capable and talented youths into the Tanzeem’s membership and to participate actively in the upcoming election to ensure the selection of qualified representatives.
