Bhatkal: Intermittent rainfall over the past three days intensified suddenly on Tuesday morning, turning into a continuous downpour that lasted well into the afternoon. As a result, normal life was thrown out of gear in the town.
Key areas including Shamsuddin Circle on National Highway 66, Tenginagundi Cross, and Sagar Road were waterlogged, with roads virtually turning into ponds. The accumulated water caused major disruption in vehicular movement and created serious difficulties for pedestrians.
Even by 2:30 pm, when this report was filed, the rain had not subsided. Steady showers continued across the town under dark clouds, indicating the possibility of more heavy rain.
