Bhatkal: Following the expiry of the term of the elected councils of seven major urban local bodies in Uttara Kannada district, the state government has appointed administrators to oversee their functioning.
Accordingly, after the tenure of the elected representatives of the Bhatkal Town Municipal Council (TMC) came to an end, in-charge Assistant Commissioner (AC) Kaviya Rani assumed charge as the Administrator of the council.
It has been reported that this appointment has been made under the powers conferred by Section 389 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964.

Until a new council is elected, Kavya Rani will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative affairs of the Bhatkal Municipal Council.
TMC Chief Officer Venkatesh Nauda, Health Officer Sojia Soman, and several other officials were present during the charge-taking ceremony.
