UDUPI/ MANGALURU: Following a complaint of sexual harassment under water by a woman diver, the licence of Dreamz Scuba Diving in Murudeshwara has been cancelled.

Dhirendra Rawat, a diving instructor who had allegedly sexually harassed a software engineer from Bengaluru, has been arrested by the Byndoor police. Udupi Deputy Commissioner R Vishal has cancelled the licence of the firm and a rowdy sheet has been opened against the accused.

Udupi SP K Annamalai said those who may have suffered similar harassment during scuba diving could contact him.

The incident came to the light only after the woman wrote about it in a blog. She was allegedly harassed in the second week of February.

The police have filed a chargesheet in court. There have been complaints of voyeurism against several scuba diving institutes operating on the western coast.

A regular visitor from an engineering college said six girls used to love going for scuba diving expeditions to various spots off Murudeshwar and Bhatkal, but they stopped doing so after a bitter incident of voyeurism.
