Dubai: Bahrain police said that they have arrested 29 people for carrying out acts of sabotage in the capital Manama.
-Rioters hurled petrol bombs, iron rods and stones, endangering both the police and civilians in the commercial centre of Manama on Friday afternoon and evening,- the General Director of the Capital Governorate Police said. -They also burned trash bins and blocked roads in an attempt to hinder traffic and affect the commercial activity in the area.-
The incidents of rioting and vandalism were part of an illegal demonstration, he said.
-The police used only the necessary force to restore order in responding. The 29 arrested for vandalism and rioting will be referred to the Public Prosecution,- he said.
An investigation was launched to identify other people involved in the incident.
-We urge anyone with any related information to call the police hotline. All calls are treated as anonymous,- he said.
