Tirupati:In an alleged custodial death, a teenaged girl, held for questioning in connection with a theft case, was found dead at a police station at nearby Tirumala today but police claimed she committed suicide.

The 18-year-old girl from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh was found dead in the crime wing police station at Tirumala. Police maintained she had committed suicide by hanging using a portion of her dress when she went to the bathroom.

The girl, an alleged routine offender, was brought to the police station today for questioning in connection with a theft inside the hill temple recently, police said.
