Kozhikode: The toll in the landslips triggered by torrential rain at Pulloranpara and Manjuvayal in Kozhikode district of Kerala rose to seven with the recovery of six more bodies today.
Police said rescue workers retrieved five bodies, of Anakkampoil Cherussery Thundathil Joseph, Kodencherry Manjuvayal Palathodukayil Gopalan (80), Lissy (28), Josna (9) and Oyina (1.5) were found today.
Varkey (78), who was rescued and admitted to a hospital died this morning.
The body of Amal (3.5), grandson of Joseph was discovered last night.
Sources said the district administration has set up two camps in a mosque and a school at Polloranpara to shelter people evacuated from the affected areas.
District Collector K V Mohan Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Rama Devi and senior police officers were camping in the area.
Many houses and standing crops were damaged in flash floods and landslips triggered by downpour in some parts of the district, neighbouring Kannur and Wayanad district during the last two days.
