Hyderabad: An Emirates flight on its way to Bangkok from Dubai had to make an emergency landing after one of the onboard passengers reported sick, at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here in the morning.
Doctors from Apollo clinic at the airport examined and declared the UAE national dead, airport police said. "He was about 19 years of age and suffering from obesity. He along with his parents was on the way to Bangkok for treatment," police told PTI.
The body was shifted to Apollo Clinic in the airport and the flight EK-374 left for Bangkok. The boy was overweight and weighed nearly 170 kg.
According to Apollo doctors, he suffered heart failure that led to his death, police said. "Emirates confirmed that flight EK 374 from Dubai to Bangkok was diverted to Hyderabad today due to a medical emergency involving one of the passengers.
The flight eventually departed for Bangkok at 6.10 AM from Hyderabad, an Emirates statement said. Police said arrangements are being made to send the body back to Dubai by a late evening flight from here.
