Fasih Mahmood

Patna: A day after Saudi authorities confirmed to the CBI that missing Bihar engineer and terror suspect Fasih Mehmood was in their custody, his wife demanded a fast track trial of his case.

"My husband is innocent. He is neither guilty nor involved in any terror activities. I demand that the government of India order a fast track trial of his case," Fasih's wife Nikhat Parveen told electronic Media on Sunday.

She said that only a fast track trial in the court would help her and Fasih's family members to get justice. "We will not remain silent. After all, my husband is a victim of human rights violations," she added.

She said that her initial claim had proved to be correct. She had said that her husband was arrested by the Saudi police in the presence of Indian police. But the Indian government had refused to accept the fact, also the Saudi police denied it. She says that she is sure that her second claim that her husband is totally innocent, will also be proved true very soon.

She also added that "Indian Govt has claimed that my husband is absconding from the year 2010, but the fact is that I was married to Fasih in the same year,i.e. 2010 in India itself. He had also visited India in the year 2011 to attend the wedding ceremony of his brother-.' After all this facts, how can the police even say that he was absconding from 2010?', she questions.

Nikhat Parveen wonders as to how the top Indian authorities, including Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and officials of the external affairs ministry, could be in the dark regarding Fasih's whereabouts till last week.

"It is a matter of serious concern for every citizen of the country," she said.

Nikhat questioned Chidambaram's remarks that Fasih was not in the custody of Indian authorities. "Chidambaram must have had the information that he was in the custody of Saudi authorities. After all, he is the home minister of the country."

Thirty-five-years-old Fasih, who hails from a village in Darbhanga district of Bihar, was reportedly arrested in Saudi Arabia May 14 for alleged terror links in India.

It is really amazing that no proofs are given or stated that Fasih Mehmood has any links to what the authorities have charged him with. Instead it was mentioned in some article earlier that his crime is that some IM operative told the Indian agencies that Fasih was his friend. Is just being a friend enough to declare someone a terrorist ?

What kind of justice system is this where the countries court question the where abouts of a citizen who is detained by the countries agencies and the government doesnt know about it . there is definitely some malice behind the entire episode.

How can the government term some one as absconding,, they simply have to pull out the passport and immigration records... with India boasting to be a software superpower .. i dont think find records for entry exit of a person would have been such a difficult task.

I think he was framed just because of the fact that he studied in an engineering college in bhatkal and works in Saudi Arabia
