Bangalore: Former External Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader S M Krishna will take a lead in bringing back the party to power in the next Assembly elections in the state, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwar said today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said, 'Mr Krishna is a senior leader and a former Chief Minister of the state.
His direction in taking the party unitedly will certainly help the party bounce back to power.' Replying to a question, he said the party High Command would take a decision on giving proper position to Mr Krishna.
"But more than the responsibility to be entrusted to him, the party state unit will certainly be benefitted by his entering Karnataka politics," he added.
To another question, he said, "We are in transition period. Elders direction is needed in grooming youngsters before giving them power. Congress has 127 years of legacy and it will continue to maintain its supermacy in the field of politics and continue to provide a healthy democracy".
