Bangalore: About 7,300 Muslims from Karnataka will be performing the Haj pilgrimage this year from September 28 for which the State Hajj Committee has made elaborate arrangements.
According to the sources, the pilgrims will leave for the holy city of Makka from Bangalore, Mangalore, Hyderabad and Goa. So far, 6,819 pilgrims have registered for the pilgrimage, sources added.
Pilgrims from Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Udupi, Hassan and Chikmagalur will board the flight from Mangalore, by Air India, between September 28 and October 2 daily; pilgrims from all the districts, including Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, will board the flights from Bangalore from October 2 to October 12; pilgrims from Belgaum and Uttara Kannada will depart from Goa between October 7 and October 9 daily; pilgrims from Bidar, Gulbarga and Yadgir will board the flight from Hyderabad from October 6 to October 19.
The Hajj Committee has made arrangements for ‘halal-certified’ food to be served to the pilgrims in the aircraft. Arrangements have also been made to receive pilgrims from bus stands and railway stations.
The Hajj Camp 2012 will be held from September 30 to October 12 at the Khuddus Saheb Idgah Maidan on Millers Road, Bangalore. The camp will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.
