Bangalore: Karnataka Cabinet approved sanction of grant to 19 law colleges in the state, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri said.
Addressing a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, he said of the total 24 colleges, 19 have been approved for Government grant and five have been omitted since they did not meet the requirements.
He said though J H Patel government had approved this in 1999, it was implemented by the successive governments for want of finance.
Mr Kageri said the Cabinet has also approved to sanction Rs 300 crore for development of degree colleges in the state for providing toilet facility in 800 colleges, laboratory in 80 colleges, construction new class rooms and buildings.
He said the Cabinet has approved to sanction 39 acre 38 gunta of land at K R Pura in the outskirts of the city for NIMHANS Hospital for expansion.
