Karnataka to have separate Ministry for Backward Class
Bangalore: Karnataka Government will create a separate Ministry for Backward Classes to provide better administration and to oversee implementation of various welfare schemes meant for them, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said today.
Speaking at the 97th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs here, he said his government was committed to the welfare of backward classes and has made an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore in the budget for the proposed Ministry.
The Chief Minister said this year additional 51 hostels will be set up for Backward Class students. The government has already sanctioned these additional Hostels and the places of their location will be selected very soon.
