Drought conditions not to impact food production:Pawar
Bangalore: The foodgrain production in Karnataka will not be affected due to drought conditions in some parts of the country, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said today.

Talking to newspersons after reviewing the drought conditions in Karnataka, he said Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and a few other states have received good rains. Hence, there would not be any impact.
He said the states with deficit rainfall included Gujarat, Rajasthan and the southern states. Punjab and Haryana too suffered shortfall in rains, but due to good ground water potential they would not face any problem, he added.
'The Centre has decided to give additional power to Punjab and Haryana to ensure that crops are not affected' he said.
