Monappa Bhandari files nomination

Bangalore : Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Monappa Bhandari today filed his nomination papers for the July 25 byelection to the lone seat in Karnataka Legislative Council.
With today being the last date for filing nomination and opposition Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) not contesting, Mr Bhandari is likely to be elected unopposed.
The election was necessitated following the death of veteran BJP man and Minister V S Acharya.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, among other leaders were present during Mr Bhandari filing his two sets of nomination papers.
