Bangalore (UNI): Land scams, involving illegal denotification of private land acquired by the government in and around the city, continue to haunt the BJP Government.

A private complaint was filed today against Chief Minister-designate Jagadish Shettar.

The complaint was filed before the Lokayukta Court here by S M Chetan, a journalism student from the city.

He alleged Mr Shettar, as Revenue Minister in the Janata Dal (S)-BJP Coalition Government, had illegally denotified 188 acres of valuable land in north of Bangalore.

Already, former Karnataka Chief Minister B Y Yeddyurappa and several other politicians from all three major parties in Karnataka, including the Congress, are facing similar cases in the Lokayukta Court.

The petitioner alleged in his complaint the government had acquired 356 acres, including 188 acres of private land, in Dasanapura-Yeshvantpur Hubli in 2001 for building 'mega market for farmers under the APMC Act.
