3 held in fake certificate scam

Shimoga : Police have arrested three people who were found involved in making fake certificates of Kuvempu University (KU) to help applicants secure jobs in private companies at Bangalore.

With this, the number of people arrested in connection with the fake certificates scam in Kuvempu University has gone up to 24.

Police said here S D Ravindra and S Prashanth Kumar, who were working as office administrators at a private company and Dayal Prakash, working as Programme Manager in a software company, were arrested yesterday.

Ravindra had furnished a fake MBA certificate from Kuvempu University to his employer while Prakashanth Kumar produced a fake BSc certificate.

Dayal, who discontinued B Com in a college affiliated to Bangalore University, secured a fake degree from Kuvempu University and joined the company.

It was said Chidananda, a MBA from Channagiri in Davanagere district who was arrested recently, helped the trio to secure fake certificates from Devaraj and Manjunath, the key accused in the case.

The trio were produced before the III Judicial Magistrate First Class Court in Bhadravati which remanded them in police custody till July 2.
