Boy drowns in Venktapur River at Bhatkal

Bhatkal: The dead body of a boy had been recovered from the Venktapur River on Sunday, who had been missing from Saturday evening.

Lokesh Timappa Naik (14) of 9th STD student of Janatha Vidyalaya School, Shirali drowned to death in the Venktapur River at Kodi Ittal of Shirali Gram Panchayat on Saturday evening. He had reportedly gone to play with some of his friends close to his house in the evening. Later, the when the boy did not return home at night, the worried parents registered a missing case at Bhatkal Rural Police Station. Unfortunately, even the boy’s friends did not inform his parents that Lokesh had been swimming with them in the evening.

The next morning, some people witnessed a body floating on the Venktapur River side, which was later identified as Lokesh’s.





Lokesh was the student of standard ninth at Janatha Vidyalaya School, Shirali. He is said to be the only child of his parents.

A case had been registered at Bhatkal Town police station. PSI Naveen Jogi along with other associates visited the spot.
