Mangalore: A huge cache of explosives was reportedly found inside a concrete drainage pipe near Kadandale village under the limits of Paladka Gram Panchayat in Mangalore taluk.
The place where the explosives were dumped belonged to a local stone mining company, informed the Moodbidri Police. It was said that 4,923 detonators were seized by the police officials, which were stuffed in plastic and gunny bags.
The hidden explosives were accidentally found by a local herdsman named Hareesh Poojary while he was grazing his cattle. He immediately informed the other villagers, who later called the police.

The villagers had assumed that those explosives were hidden there by some naxalites, but the police clarified that they belonged to 'Pobsons' stone mining company, situated at a distance of one-and-a-half kilometer from the spot.
Police said that three labourers had died last year in the same company due to an explosion.
When the company owners were questioned about the issue, it was said that they had stacked the inadequate detonators in a deserted place to avoid any kind of tragedy.
However local residents have urged police to take action against the company for its -irresponsible attitude-.
Moodbidri Circle inspector A K Thimmaiah and Tahsildar Basavaraj Palote and others visited the spot.
