Bhatkal: The long cherished dream of the people UK district of having a night train from Yeshwantpur to Karwar has finally fulfilled on Thursday, October 18.

The people of UK district were demanding for the night train from Bangalore to Karwar from past three years, and finally the High Court has passed the order for starting the same.

On Wednesday, the Railway Authorities had announced that the night train between Yeshwanthpur and Kannur (No. 16517/18) would be bifurcated in Mangalore and extended to Karwar. The Train No.16517 that left Yeshwanthpur would run towards Kannur with five coaches while the bifurcated train would run to Karwar as Train No.16523/16524 with 13 coaches.

The train which will depart from Yeshwantpur at 20.35 hrs will arrive at Karwar the next day afternoon at 14.00 hrs. The train departing from Karwar at 14.40 hrs will arrive at Yeshwantpur at 08.55 hrs in the morning.

The train will have 13 coaches, including one two-tier AC and three-tier AC, eight sleepers, one General and two SLR coaches.

The long lasting dream of the people of Bhatkal was fulfilled today and the people welcomed the Bangalore-Karwar night train at Bhatkal Railway station with galore and joy.

On this occasion Bhatkal Railway Station Master K S N Murthy, Bhatkal Majlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem Vice President SM Parvez, General Secretary Muhiddin Altaf Kharuri, Rabita society Manager Manazir Hasan Sukri, Social worker Syed Hassan Barmvar and many others were present.
