Bhatkal : Gramin Dak Sevaks launched indefinite agitation here on Tuesday, as per the call given by All-India Postal Extra Employees Association, and demanded regularization of their service.
Referring to a Supreme Court judgement of considering them as civil servants and recommendations of Justice Talwar Committee, the employees said, their service should be regularized at the earliest.

The employees alleged that they have been facing many problems after implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission. In spite of having discussion with the Union Minister for Communication and officials concerned, no concrete decision has been taken to solve their problems, they alleged.
Bonus ceiling should be increased from 2,500 to 3,500 Seniority should be considered while making appointments to postman, mail guard and MTS posts, and anomalies in the new recruitment rules should be rectified, they demanded.
Uttara Kannada All India Postal Extra Employee President M I Naik, Secretary Suresh Naik Atul Achari & many others were present.
Same kind of protest was also held in Karwar in which Association office-bearers M I Naik, Atul Achari, Suresh Naik, Ullas Naik, K C Basavraj, G D Shetty, Mahindra Naik, Sudhir Thamse and Geeta Bandekar were present.
