Bhatkal: In an incident which was reported on Tuesday night, a goon from Bhatkal made an attempt to attack the Honorable Qazi of Khaleefa Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen Bhatkal, Moulana Khaja Moinuddin Akrami Nadwi. But the timely appearance of the local people on the scene stopped the matter from getting worse. The locals caught the goon and took care of him, later he was handed over to the police. With the immediate spread of news, thousands of people gathered outside the police station demanding stern action against the culprit.

Speaking to SahilOnline on phone, Moulana Khaja has said that he was stepping out of his house located at Salman Abad at around 10 pm, Tuesday night, when a person named Ashfaque Armar was passing from there on a bike. The person, looking at him, halted in front of his house and started abusing him speaking in harsh tone. According to Ashfaque, Moulana Khaja had testified against him in the Karwar court, and making that a prime reason he abused Moulana using foul language and kept him blocked for a long time. The Moulana softly tried to explain to him that he did not give any false testimony against him in the court, but the goon crossing his limits started shouting at him. But before the situation got worse and went any further, a huge number of locals gathered outside the Moulana’s home. The immediate crowd panicked Ashfaque and he quickly got into Moulana’s home, but was later beaten red and blue by the public.



The police reached the scene and took Ashfaque to the police station. As the news about abusing and ill treating Qazi reached the people of town, thousands of people gathered outside the police station, who were in any way not ready to tolerate such an disrespectful act with the Honorable Qazi of the town. The public demanded that Ashfaque be handed over to them. Looking at the sensitiveness of the situation, the Asst. SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy, CPI Beliyappa, PSI Prakash Devadiga and Johnson D’Souza asked the public to calm down and have patience and assured that stringent actions would be taken against the goon.



The vice president of Majlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem SM Parvez, GS Mohiddin Altaf, Mr. Siddiqa Meeran, Abdur Raqeeb MJ, Muhammed Sadique Matta, Imtiyaz Udyawar, Irshad Gawai, Sanaullah Gawai with many other responsible personalities of the community reached the police station and calmed the people down asking them to disperse the crowd. They compelled the police to charge the culprit with strict orders and file the case against him.

On the occasion, the public informed the police that this Ashfaque Armar was the same person who had attempted an attack on Late Abdul Gani Mohtesham in the year 2007, who was the president of Anjuman then. It was further told that he was also accused of the murder of his own wife in the year 2005, when the body of his wife was found hanging from the roof of bedroom of his house.

The case has been registered in town police station and the police are investigating the case.
