Karwar: The Municipal contract workers, held a protest demonstration in front of the City Municipal Council (CMC) recently.The protest was held under the banner of CITU. They demanded regularization of their service and equal pay for equal work.

The protesting workers said they have been working in various municipal bodies as sweepers, loaders, watermen, electrician, drivers, computer operators and office assistants for over a decade.
However, most of the workers have not been given the job security. Therefore, steps should be taken to regularise our services,the workers demanded.

The demand includes equal pay for equal work, payment through cheques, crediting of provident fund amount to the account of municipalities, breakfast, uniform, raincoat, torch and identity cards.
