Karwar: Krishna Narayan Gowda has been elected as the president and Lalita Vishwanath Patgar as the Vice president for the second term of Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat. Both were elected unopposed.

The Group B was reserved for the post of president and the post of vice president was reserved for the general ladies, for the second term of Zilla Panchayat. A single nomination paper each was filed for both the seats, and thus both the persons were elected unopposed.



Krishna Narayan Gonda was appointed from the Ambika Nagar Constituency and his name was put forward by Udaya Donga Naik and Ashok Sudhakar Sirsikar. Lalita Patgar was appointed from Hegde Constituency and she was recommended by Ishwar Sudha Naik and Vinod Bomayya Naik.

From the total of 36 members of the zilla panchayat, two members were absent. The elections took place under the supervision of Zonal Commissioner Belgaum Gangaram Baderiya. Additional DC Mahantesh Damanvar was present on the occasion.
