Bhatkal:‘The educational field is witnessing the revolutional changes in the present day. The government is providing cent percent facilities for the students, so that pursuing education becomes easy for each and every individual. From text books, note books to school uniform, also mid-day meals and bicycles and many other facilities are provided by the government to the students free of cost. The main intention behind this is to motivate the students to excel in the field of education, so that they become better citizens of the nation’, said Mr. JD Naik, the Bhatkal MLA, on the occasion of free cycle distribution ceremony held at the Government Higher Secondary School, Sonarkeri, Bhatkal.
Inaugurating the function by lightning the lamp, he advised the parents that they take responsibilities of their wards in helping them with studies and motivating them to score better marks in the examination.
Free cycles were distributed to 1545 students of the standard VIII, IX and X of Bhatkal taluk by the Karnataka Government through the Department of Public Instruction on Saturday.
Welcoming the gathering, Bhatkal Block Educational Officer Devidas Moger informed that among the total of 1545 bicyles which were distributed, 846 were given to boys and 699 to the girls.

Taluka Panchayat President Parshunath Jain presided over the function.
TMC Vice President Jayanthi Minchi, TMC Councillor Krishna Naik, Sridhar Naik, Geetha Shet, N G Gonda, officials from the Departments of School Education along with others were present on the occasion.
The Headmistress of the high school, Miss Shamshad proposed the vote of thanks.
