Bhatkal: The government has provided another opportunity for the public to enter their names in the voter’s list for those who will be attending the age of 18 on or before first of January 2013.

According to the press release which was issued by the Bhatkal Tahsildar Dr. Madhukeshwar, the public will be provided with the facility of registering their names in the voter's list from today, 1st October till 31st October. The election commission of India has referred 01-01-2013 as the qualifying date and said that, if a person, on the relevant date attains the age of 18 years, must enroll his/her name in the voter’s list.

The press release states that to enter one’s name in the voter’s list, the person must fill the form no. 6 and submit it to the officers of concerned voting centers, along with the necessary documents such as birth certificate, certificate of Indian citizenship, residential certificate etc.

For the transfer of address and for deleting any name in the electoral roll on account of death, form no.7 should be filled and submitted. Form no. 8 for the correction in names/address and form 8A in case of new residence. Also the passport size colour photos should be attached to all the concerned forms before submitting.

The Tahsildar has urged the public to pay attention and take advantage of the provided facility and enter their names in the voter’s list at earliest.
