Bhatkal: In a shocking incident, a snake-like worm was found in a tetra pack of Maa juice pack for the second time in Bhatkal. When a baby snake was found in the juice pack of the same company, in an incident which was reported in the Kargadde area of Bhatkal before some four months, the company and the company distributor at Bhatkal had denied the news and called it false, blaming the media for publishing the report.

But, now with the similar incident which took place at the canteen of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, yet again a worm has emerged out of a Maa tetra juice pack. The news created sensation in the entire town as the people were viewing it with the disbelief. Thousands of people gathered themselves at the Jamia campus to witness the incident.

The PSI of the Bhatkal rural police station, Naveen Jogi along with his associates reached the spot and investigated the juice packet. Later the CPI, Beliyappa also reached the spot and expressed his disbelief that how such a thing can be found in the juice pack of such a popular company. He further said that the boy had puked after consuming the juice, but he was feeling nauseatic just by looking at the worm-like thing.



The incident occurred at the Sunday afternoon when the students of Jamia Islamia were having their lunch at the campus canteen. A student of Arabi duwwan (7th grader), Abdul Mannan s/o Jafer Sadiq Qazia, who had brought pack of Maa juice from the same canteen, found that the juice had stopped flowing from the straw after the initial two sips. He passed on the pack to his friend to try it, but even the other boy could not suck the juice out of straw. Abdul Mannan went to the canteen keeper to ask him to exchange his juice pack as he was unable to drink from it. But the person refused to take it back saying that the pack had already been opened. Disappointed, the boy pressed the pack hard with his hands and to his utter shock, suddenly a worm-like thing popped out of the straw hole due to the applied pressure. The boy started vomiting looking at the thing.



The news reached the entire campus, and also the entire town like forest fire. A huge crowd gathered the spot within no time and witnessed the juice pack with their own eyes. Along with the police, the vice president of Bhatkal Tanzeem SM Parvez, general secretary Altaf Kharuri, Mucipal chief Inayatullah Shabandari, president of Rotary Club Sadullah Damda, and also the Maa distributor in Bhatkal Siddque Ismail reached the Jamia campus and observed the packet. When the distributor was questioned about the incident of finding the worm in the juice pack for the second time, he refused to give his opinion and remained silence.



Abdul Mannan was taken to the Government hospital for the check up, where he was given the essential injection. Later the health officer advised the boy be taken to Wenlock Hospital Mangalore for the further check up.

Speaking to the media people on Monday, the CPI informed that the case has been filed in the Bhatkal rural Police station regarding the finding of snake-like worm in the Maa pack. He further said that the case has been filed against the Chennai Company, the Bhatkal distributor and also the canteen owner. He also said that the particular packet had been taken into police custody and it will be soon sent to the Bangalore Laboratory for investigation so that the details can be found out about the thing which was found in the juice pack.

A team of Health Inspector from Karwar reached Bhatkal Jamia Campus on Monday. The canteen was observed and the necessary details were noted. The boy Abdul Mannan was also questioned about the incident and even his health.





Speakin to SahilOnline, the Health Inspector RM Naik, said that he has collected all the necessary information from the place, and they will be sending the sample of Maa juice pack from the canteen to the lab in Bangalore for investigation. He said that the further action will be taken after the receival of the report. The food safety officer Mr. Vikashi Bhat and other officials were also present with him.

Moulana Abdul Bari Nadwi, the principal of Jamia, speaking on the incident said that finding such a thing in the Maa pack in Bhatkal for the second time is a matter of great concern.

The administrative body has assured that the entire matter will be investigated and the further action will be taken after the reports were received.


Maa Company regards the news as rumors

The Kavinkare Company has claimed that the entry of any foreign particle in the Maa Juice pack is completely impossible. In a press release, the company has said that the rolling news about the finding of a baby snake in Maa juice pack is nothing but a gimmick. The company has declared that it will take strict legal actions against those who is trying to defame the company which such rumors. The company has completely opposed such a mischief which has been seen in Bhatkal consecutively for the second time and which is bringing bad name to the company.

The company declared that the Swedish Technology is used for the packaging of the tetra packs and the juices are packed in a completely closed atmosphere. Also, that the juices are heated upto 80-90 degree Celsius before packing. It is completely impossible that any foreign particle gets into the pack in such circumstances. It is also told that juice is passed through electro-magnetic filter before packing, which makes it impossible for even a tiny particle to pass through. The company has also declared that if any foreign particle gets into the pack by any chance, then the pack gets burst within two or three days from the packaging date. According to the company, there will be strict vigilance on the quality control for the manufacture of best quality products and the satisfaction of consumers.


Is the Maa juice distributed in Bhatkal fake?

The company might have declared the impossibility of foreign particles in their juice packs, but then, thousands of people in Bhatkal have witnessed the thing which had popped out of the Maa pack with their naked eyes. This is not even the first incident of its kind in the town.

Looking at the circumstances, the people feel that there can be only two possibilities for the repeated incidents in town.

Firstly, the company claim is false. The company is trying to warn the public of the legal procedures and trying to prove that the Bhatkal people are liars. Moreover, the company is also revealing its doubts on the fairness of scholars of Jamia, who have witnessed the incident in their own campus.

Secondly, the Maa juice which is being supplied in Bhatkal is fake. The people have pressurized the district administration that they investigate the complete matter very closely. The people have said that if the company claim is untrue, then legal actions would be taken against it. And if the company is true, then it should be investigated that where the Bhatkal get its supplies from and where it is manufactured. ‘Is the maa supplied in Bhatkal genuine or is the fake product being supplied in the maa packs to gain more profit out of it?’ the mystery continues…
