Karwar: Gayatri Nayak, Tahsildar of Kumta, had a narrow escape when the jeep in which she was travelling fell into a gorge near Mirjan Saturday morning.

Ms. Nayak suffered minor injuries, but A.N. Bhat, village accountant, who was also in the jeep, suffered head injuries. The driver escaped unhurt.

They were returning from Mundgod after a meeting with the Principal Secretary (Revenue). The driver reportedly lost control over the vehicle when he tried to avoid a pothole.

Mr. Bhat was shifted to Kumta hospital for further treatment.
