Karwar: Coastal belt and taluks in upper ghat section of Uttara Kannada district witnessed heavy rains on Friday.

Though there were no clouds early morning, they gathered as the day progressed resulting in heavy rains in the coastal belt. Upper ghat region also witnessed incessant rains till evening. Rainwater gushed in over 20 houses in Araga, Chendia and other localities of the taluk. Karwar taluk recorded 48.3 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours.
