Karwar: Manjula Gouda, staff at the office of the Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police, was suspended by K T Balkrishna, the SP, for dereliction of duty. This is the first time in last 20 years that a staff of the SP office had been suspended.

It is alleged that Manjula had been in the habit of hiding the petition submitted by the people to the department. Many petitions meant to be forwarded to the State and National Human Rights Commission, SCs and STs rights commission, women’s commission used to disappear from Manjula’s files, it was alleged.

K T Balkrishna SP confirmed that Manjula had been suspended for dereliction of duty. He urged his colleagues to be sensitive to people’s problems.
