Bhatkal: -Religion should be there for communal harmony and not for communal division-.This was a joint message given by all the speakers who were speaking on the occasion of -Communal Harmony Day-, which was organized by Anjuman Degree College & PG center on September 2, 2012, at College Function Hall.
The idea of the get together was to bring the youth of various communities, living in both the parts of the city on one common platform to celebrate the spirit of peace and brotherhood. It is a medium which brings people together from across religion, castes, backgrounds and communities, said Prof. KC Nazeer who was welcoming the guests.

Chief Guest of the Function, Bhatkal tahsildar, Dr. Madhukeshwar said, Communal harmony has become a hot debate and boiling issue in this country, which should not be the case, as we have received independence through great struggle and hard work.
Guest of honor of the function, Principal of Jamia Islamia, Moulana Abdul Bari Nadvi, addressing the gathering on the occasion, opined that communal harmony is our country’s strength. Our religion Islam encompasses love, affection, compassion and peace. We should respect each and every one who is living in this world. Whether he may be rich or poor, he may be a talented person or a dull one, or he may be from any background, religion etc. This world is created by the Almighty for everyone, no one can say that it was built only for him alone, he said. If anyone says the world is for me, than he has no religion, caste, or anything. Every human being should respect & help each other and join hands with every other human being. This way of living will bring peace in this country as well as the world. Moulana explained that life on earth is a life of trust, and all the human beings are trustees of it. So we should not keep fighting with each other. He said that it is observed that even animals do not fight with their own class, but we humans, being intellectual, fight with our own fellow brothers every other day for simple reasons in different parts of the world. ‘How can we adopt peace when two human beings are fighting with each other?’ He questioned.
Moulana gave the best examples of peace maintained at the times of Prophet Muhammed PBUH and His Caliphs. Later Moulana explained that if a person respects another and have some patience in life by thinking about the well being of other human beings, he will be remembered throughout the life, best examples being Ajmeer Shareef Moulana Khaja Mohinuddin Chisti and Mahatma Gandhi.
Another Guest of Honor, Mr. Sudheer Kumar Reddy, who is the new Assistant Superintendent of Police in Bhatkal attending his first function here, said that religion should not be brought into politics. He said that we should know at what point the problem begins to break up the peace, and so we should cut the branches from the very point.
Harish Pai and Prathima Bhagwat also delivered some talk about the importance of Communal Harmony, which inspired the gathering.
An Essay and elocution competition was held for the college students which were participated by many. Prizes were distributed on this occasion to the top three winners. The competitions were held in English and Kannada languages.
Vice President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Janab Kasimiji Ansar Saheb presided over the function. Prof Ravi Kaikini introduced the guests, principal K C Nazeer welcomed and Ahmed Damudi delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Sahil took an oath along with the entire gathering.
