Karwar: Nivedita Sawant, student of St Michael’s School here, bagged gold medal in discus throw during the 24th South India U-16 Athletics Meet, held at Maharaja Stadium in Cochin of Kerala on Wednesday.

She threw discus to 33.96 metres to clinch the gold. With this success, she would represent South India in the national-level meet to be held at Chatrapati Shivaji Stadium in Pune on September 20, stated a press release.

Coach Prakash Revankar, District Athletics Association Secretary Sadanand Naik, President Pradip Pai congratulated Ms Nivedita for her achievement.
