Muslims wishing Eid greetings in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan of the Islamic calendar, is being celebrated with great fervor and gaiety throughout the country on Sunday & Monday.

Eid celebrated in Kerala and Coastal parts of Karnataka including Mangalore, Udupi and Bhatkal on Sunday 19 August, while other parts of India on Monday 20 August, 2012.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of Ramazan, a month of abstinence from food and water from dawn to dusk, shunning lies, fraud, injustice, illegal acts and keeping away from temptations. It is a month of giving - Zakat or charity forms an important aspect of observing Ramazan in its true spirit. It is also the time to seek forgiveness and blessings from the Almighty.









Thousands of Muslims offered prayers for prosperity at all the Jamiya Masjid of Bhatkal on Sunday.

Maulana Abdul Bari Nadvi said in his sermon at Bhatkal Jamia Masjid that "Eid was the time for those who fasted to reap what they sowed during the Holy Month.

While Maulana Khawaja Madani said in Bhatkal Khaleefa Masjid that "Eid is meant to be a time of enjoyment that should extend to one's family, relatives, friends and neighbours, and even domestic helpers." He called upon the Muslims to follow the tradition of the Prophet Mohammed, (peace be upon him), who had been keen to spread joy and share it with his family.








The message from all the Imams of Juma masjid were to prayed for world peace, unity among Muslim nations, progress for the people and the country's prosperity.

Maulana Niyamatullah Askeri Nadvi offered prayer at Makhdoom Colony Jamia Masjid, Maulana Irfan Nadvi at Nawayat colony, Milliya Jamia Masjid, Maulana Jaffer Faqui Bhaw Nadvi at Masjid-e-Ahmed Sayeed, Maulana Iqbal Naitey Nadwi at Hamza Jamia Masjid, Maulana Ameen Ruknuddin at Noor Jamia Masjid, Moulana Talha at Syedna Ibrahim Jamia Masjid, Moulana Ateequr Rahman Dangi Nadvi at Jamia Masjid Tengingudi and Moulana Fazlur Rahman Salafi at Imaam Bukhari Masjid.

All the Jamia Masjid was packed with thousands of Muslims who were attended the namaz.

Police department has made elaborate security arrangements for the peaceful celebration of Eid which was headed by Additional SP of Uttara Kannada Subhash Gudimaney and Bhatkal DySP M Narayan.
