Bhatkal: A prestigious Iftar dinner was organized in SahilOnline office on Monday on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan. It was attended over by the Govt officials and servants of various depts., including the press persons. The get together witnessed the interaction between a huge number of Govt. officials and
media people.

The food was served according to Muslim traditions for the iftar, which included noodles and falooda along with several other food items.

Before the dinner begun, there was a short introduction program about the holy month of Ramadan and purpose of fasting in the month.

Mr. AK Kukkila, editor Kannada weekly Sanmarga, Mangalore, speaking briefly on the occasion said that Ramadan is a month of training for all the
Muslims, during which the Muslims not only fast, but also refrain from all the bad things. Like they do not cheat on anyone, do not look at the women with wrong intention, also that they are restricted from having sex with their own wives during the fasting hours. He also highlighted about Islam under the lights
of verses of Quran. He said that only Allah's fear can stop the people from doing wrong things. Our laws, our CCTV cameras, our
constitution, no one follows them. We cannot stop corruptions and our laws cannot stop crimes. But if we have fear of God and if we have it in our mind that every deed is going to be questioned in the next world, only then we can refrain from doing something bad. God fear is the only thing which can stop the corruption in the country and take it on the way of progress.

Quoting an example, he questioned the audience that how will the country’s law punish Kesab, who was responsible for killing 250 people? He said that at the most he will be hanged and that will be the end of story. He further questioned that will this punishment suffice such a crime which have affected the families of these 250 victims, which included their helpless wives, old parents and young children. He explained that justice was possible only on the Day of Judgement, when the Almighty will punish the culprits to various degrees. For instance if a person is hanged, he will be repeatedly given the same punishment, giving him a new life every time the death overtakes him, so that the offender will be able to taste the agony and pain of the punishment endlessly over and over again.

Mr. Kukkila also gave brief information about the zakaat system in Islam.

At the end, there was a question answer session, where the doubts of few questioners were clarified. The participants wanted to ask more questions but the shortage of time did not allow the session to be continued.

The program began with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by Hafiz Ameen Zuhaib.

Reporter M R Manvi welcomed, compeered and thanked the guests.

Bhatkal CPI Shiv Parkash and the BEO Devidas Moger spoke on the occasion. Bhatkal ACF Mr. Bhatt and Editor Sahilonline Inayatullah Gawai were present on the dais.
